Popcorn Vol. 9 August 2008: Exclusive Tokio Hotel in Private
They rock like Tokio Hotel
The fans know: Bill and Tom are one of a kind! But still some were quite surprised at the concert in Dortmund. Two superfans, who look just like the twins, were among the audience. Yvonne and Rina from Hesse copied hairdo, style and gestures of their favourites. “We already spent more than 1000€ for the TH stuff”, Rina says. The other fans liked it so much that, by now, those two get their own fanmail. Yvonne: “We kinda feel like little stars ourselves!”
Tokio Hotel in private
Roxy Club, Los Angeles, a few minutes before the first US gig of Tokio Hotel. The ecstatic fans scream in front of the stage. Everyone is nervous backstage. Georg (21) and Tom (18) warm up with their instruments and joke around, laugh. Gustav (19) retreated to the bathroom, Bill (18) runs nervously through the room. He’s visibly tense. Nobody’s allowed to talk to him until the concert. He needs his peace, even his cellphone is shut off. Seven minutes until they will enter the stage…
No one can experience such a private scene of Tokio Hotel’s exciting tour life – no one but POPCORN.The boys took the photos with their own cams. They were taken during the first US journey in early 2008. You can see Tokio Hotel at the airport, at the tour van and backstage. Gustav: “The pictures are personal souvenirs of our life on tour, because we’re on the road so much, we forget what we did yesterday most of the time.” One picture of Tom is particularly surprising: He’s posing in front of a truck without his beloved cap! He wears a green bandana instead. The cool guy hasn’t shown himself like this since the “DDM” clip in July 2005. Tom: “ It’s an exception! I’ll keep my style: XXL shirts, baggy pants, caps. Even though my little brother thinks it’s stupid!”
What’s up next for Tokio Hotel? The guys are on tour in the US until 28th August, 12 concerts are on their plan. After that they go on holiday, then they work on their third album. Bill already writes songs: “I have new ideas every day. I type it into my cellphone or my laptop. I often write songs to fight homesickness!” If everything works out well, the new album will probably be in the stores around Christmas. Tom: “The record label didn’t set a deadline, we don’t want to pressure ourselves. That’d suck. Our fans deserve some really awesome songs after waiting for so long!”

Bill: What shall we do, Tom? Those girls over there want us, but they look like monsters!
Tom: Let’s do it as always, Bill! Drink until they appear pretty and then fuck them.
